"Little miracles" have been getting their start at the 34th Street address of Bakersfield Memorial Hospital since 1956. You can't beat the kind of experience we've developed through the years. Your doctor and our caring nurses and specialists are devoted to each baby, one very special birth at a time.
Memorial Hospital is well known for their exceptional nursing staff. In addition to their medical know how, they offer support, encouragement, and instruction in a compassionate manner during your pregnancy, labor, birth and after the baby is born.
And though most babies are born perfectly healthy, for babies with special needs, we offer exemplary services. The highest level of newborn care is available 24-hours a day in our Level II Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU). It is staffed with nurses who have extensive training in infants with special needs and experienced neonatologists. These healthcare specialists use the most advanced medical equipment and technology available to care for babies with special needs.
Our Maternal Child Health Education instructors offer a variety of classes and support groups for those who will be delivering their babies, or have delivered their babies, at "Miracles on 34th Street." In addition to classes and support groups, there is a Lactation Specialist available to assist new mothers and their babies with breatfeeding while they are patients at the hospital; and if needed, phone assistance and/or private consultations with a Lactation Specialist after discharge.

Women's Services
In order to meet the growing needs of women, Bakersfield Memorial Hospital has expanded its services. Most notably, we have recently opened three dedicated operating rooms for inpatient and outpatient women's surgeries. This resource is devoted to the unique requirements of our female patients.
