Visitor Screenings during Flu Season

As part of our mission to provide a safe environment, Bakersfield Memorial Hospital places an emphasis on protecting patients and staff from the flu virus, including H1N1 or Swine Flu. Building upon existing CDC guidelines and CHW policies, Memorial Hospital offers the following information related to visitor screenings.

Beginning Tuesday, November 3, 2009, Bakersfield Memorial Hospital will begin screening all visitors for flu related symptoms. Screenings will take place at all major hospital entrances including the Main Lobby, the North Tower entrance and the Emergency Room.

All visitors will be asked a few questions related to flu-like symptoms you may be experiencing, including fever, cough or sore throat. BMH staff members will be available to assist you through the process in a timely manner. Screenings may cause some delays, so please be prepared and plan ahead. All well visitors will receive a one-day pass and will be screened on a daily basis. If you are exhibiting flu-like symptoms, you will be asked to return on a date when you are feeling healthy.

Memorial Hospital will continue screening visitors as necessary throughout the flu season. We thank you for your patience and apologize for any inconvenience.
