The department of Laboratory and Pathology services at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital offers an extensive menu of modern diagnostic procedures and performs 750,000 clinical testing procedures annually. Our experienced professional staff of board-certified pathologists, and licensed clinical laboratory scientists ensures that state-of-the-art technology is maintained in all areas.
Our laboratory performs a variety of analyses, including urinalysis, bacteriology, immunohematology, hematology, chemistry, immunology, coagulation, cytology and tissue pathology. It is fully licensed and accredited by the following agencies:
- Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
- American Association of Blood Banks
- California Department of Health Services Biologics License
- California Department of Health Services Clinical Laboratory License
- Food and Drug Administration (Transfusion Medicine)
Our laboratory is equipped with state of the art instrumentation and linked with a fully integrated computer system with all three CHW hospitals in Bakersfield. Links are also available for physician offices for easy access of patient testing.

Outreach Services:
The Laboratory has a full service outreach program with five client services centers conveniently located in the community for specimen collections. Patients also have the option of utilizing 24/7 service in our three hospitals. Our client service centers are located at:
