Robotic Telemedicine

One of the most exciting new technological advances.

Telemedicine is long-distance care; it allows a patient in one location to communicate in real time with their physician in a different location. Advanced audio and video equipment let the doctor and patient speak to one another as if in the same room, no matter how far apart they may actually be.

Robotic Telemedicine will bring a new level of care to our Neurology department and Stroke Center. When a patient shows symptoms of stroke, time is of the essence—chances for a full recovery are greatest when care is given immediately. While our nationally recognized stroke team begin providing care on stroke patients right away, there are occasions when our on-campus neurologists may be momentarily unavailable and care must begin without them.

th telemedicine, however, Memorial and our stroke team will be able to reach an on-call hospital-based stroke neurologist 24 hours a day. By giving care remotely, the on-call neurologist can provide care and direction until our local physician is available, ensuring the patient and stroke team don't lose a single minute of valuable time.

Memorial receives the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's Get With The Guidelines®–Stroke Gold Quality Achievement Award.
